Sip Happens is a guided wine tasting for singles aged 25–45, hosted by Ruby’s Wine Shop – Brisbane’s newest cosy neighbourhood wine bar – with Melt helping break the ice and bring the room together from the moment you walk in.
Throughout the tasting, you’ll rotate through small groups, giving everyone the chance to meet naturally as the afternoon unfolds. Each round features a new wine to try – and plenty to talk about.
You can discuss the wine, chat about life, or jump into a card game to break the ice. No awkward one-on-one’s, no pressure – just relaxed conversation, movement, and a glass of wine in hand so there’s always something to sip, talk about, or laugh over.
By the end of the tasting, chances are you’ll have met just about everyone in the room.
Whether you leave with a new friend, a flirt, or a newfound favourite drop – consider it a win.

Can I come solo?
Absolutely. In fact, most people do. The tasting is designed so you’ll rotate through small groups and meet people naturally throughout the event, so you’ll never be left standing around wondering who to talk to.
Come solo, grab a glass, and we’ll take care of the rest.
How does the wine tasting work?
The event is a guided tasting of several wines from around the world. You’ll taste each wine in small rotating groups, giving everyone the chance to meet new people throughout the afternoon.
You can chat about the wine, talk about life, or jump into a card game if you want an easy icebreaker.
What if I’m a bit shy or nervous?
Totally normal, most people feel the same way walking in. That’s exactly why the event is structured around small groups, rotating conversations, and a guided tasting so there’s always something to talk about.
And if the moment ever gets a little quiet… well, you’ll have a glass of wine in hand.
Do I need to know anything about wine?
Not at all.
This tasting is designed to be fun and social, not serious or intimidating. Whether you know your tannins or just know what tastes good, you’ll be right at home.
Is it strictly ages 25-45?
The event is aimed at singles aged 25–45 so everyone’s roughly in a similar life stage.
We won’t be checking IDs at the door (unless you look underage), but if you’re outside that range, this one might not be the right fit.
How can I stay connected with someone I meet?
Easy – just check in on the Melt app when you arrive.
