What is Melt?

Melt is a revolutionary app designed to help you meet new people while you’re out and about, whether it’s for dating, making friends, or professional networking.

How does Melt work?

Melt connects you with people who are at the same location as you. Whether you’re at a bar, a cafe, the library or even the beach, meeting new friends, potential dates, or business contacts has never been easier.

We #melttheice for you, so all you have to do is swipe through profiles of others present at your location, and if you mutually like each other, you can chat and connect in person.

How do I download Melt?

You can download Melt from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) for free.

Is Melt available in my country?

Melt is currently available in Australia, focusing on public venues and busy locations. We’re expanding fast though, so stay tuned for updates when we launch in new countries.

Consider subscribing so you’re the first to know when Melt launches in your country.

Can I use Melt to find dates, friends, and business contacts simultaneously?

Absolutely! Melt is designed to accommodate different types of connections within the same venue. You can use it to meet potential romantic partners, make new friends, or network for professional opportunities.

What's the advantage of using Melt over other dating or networking apps?

Melt offers a unique approach to meeting people by facilitating connections in person. Unlike other apps, you’ll have a chance to meet in-person and see if you vibe in the moment you match, rather than spending weeks aimlessly chatting and never meeting.

How can I connect with other users outside of the app?

Melt helps you match within the app, so you can #melttheice and meet in-person in the moments you’re out-and-about. You can also join in on our events in your city, check out the event’s page on our website, or our Eventbrite to see when they’re on.

When you aren’t out-and-about using the app, you can follow our social media channels to connect with the broader Melt community. Find us @meetonmelt on Tiktok and Instagram.

Is Melt available for tablets or desktops?

Melt is optimised for smartphones only, and is available via the App Store or Google Play.

How do I make the most of my Melt experience?

To get the best results, regularly check in on the app and be open to new connections – you never know where or when you might meet someone amazing!

Always communicate respectfully, and make the most of the moment to meet people face-to-face. You can also use the Glimpse feature to explore where other users are going out to increase your chances of meeting people.

How do I know if someone is genuinely interested in meeting in-person?

Melt’s unique approach ensures that you’ll only match with users who are present at the same venue. This feature helps weed out users who aren’t committed to face-to-face interactions.

Can I use Melt for events and special gatherings?

Yes, Melt can be an excellent way to connect with others at events and gatherings. Just start using the app when you arrive, make sure you’re checked into the correct venue, and you’ll see other users who are there too.

Can I use Melt in private locations?

Melt is designed for public venues and businesses where multiple people gather. It’s not intended for private or residential spaces.

Can I see and match people at other venues?

No, Melt only shows you other users at your current location so you can make the most of the moment and meet people in-person. If you want to see a heat map of where other users are going out, you can try the Glimpse feature.

Can I use Melt while travelling?

Absolutely! Melt can be a fantastic tool to connect with locals and fellow travellers at various venues around Australia, and soon to be in other countries around the world.

However, always stay aware of your surroundings and exercise caution, just as you would in any unfamiliar location.

Can I hide my profile temporarily?

Yes, you can hide your profile from view if you want to take a break from the app or focus on your current connections. You can easily reactivate your profile whenever you’re ready to engage again.

Is Melt free to use?

Yes, Melt is free to download and use. Some premium features may be available for purchase in the future.

Locations, Venues & Glimpse:

What is the purpose of the Glimpse feature?

The Glimpse feature shows you a heatmap of venues where other users are going out. It’s a great way to discover popular places to socialise and easily identify the venues with the most potential connections.

Can other users see where I am located?

Melt only shows users your location when you are at the same place, or if you are already matched and have your settings set to allow matched users to see your location.

The Glimpse feature does not show users information – it is completely anonymous.

Can I choose the venues I want to see on the app?

Melt automatically displays and checks you into venues where you are located. You can also explore the Glimpse feature to discover popular places in your area.

How accurate is the venue location?

Our location-based technology aims to provide accurate information about nearby venues. However, slight discrepancies may occur due to various factors – if the app detects you in the wrong venue, you can easily correct it by tapping the venue name, and selecting where you are from the list.

Note, if you are too far away from a venue, you won’t be able to check in – this ensures honesty and increases your chances from meeting people in the moment.

Does Melt track my location?

Melt helps you meet new people wherever you go. We do this by detecting where you are and showing you people at the same location as you.

If you don’t want to use location services all the time, consider allowing location services only while you use the app, you can check your phone settings for this.

I don’t want to allow location services, can I still use Melt?

If you don’t allow location services in your phone settings, we won’t be able to show you other users at the venues you visit.

Is my location data safe on Melt?

Yes, your privacy is a priority for us. Melt uses location data only to show you potential matches at the same venue as you. We don’t share your location with other users.

What should I consider when going out and meeting new people on Melt?

Whether you’re using Melt or not, always prioritise your safety. Choose busy venues to go out to, and let a friend or family member know your plans – better yet, Melt is even more fun when you use it with a group of friends.

Have your phone charged and easily accessible in case you need to make a call, need to head home or reach out for help. Stay aware of your surroundings, and if you’re drinking, do so responsibly.

Are there guidelines for using Melt responsibly in venues with alcohol?

Yes, always prioritise responsible behaviour when using Melt in venues with alcohol. Be aware of your alcohol consumption, maintain clear communication, and follow our House Rules and User Code of Conduct to ensure a positive experience.

Matching, Meeting & Chatting:

What happens if I match with someone but I don't chat?

Your matches will be available to chat with as long as you’re both at the same venue, and up to 24 hours after. Feel free to start a chat to #melttheice and organise meeting face-to-face.

Can I unmatch with someone?

Yes, you can unmatch someone by going to their profile, scrolling to the bottom and clicking Unmatch.

Why can’t I chat with my match if they aren’t at the same venue?

We believe in REAL before digital, so we’ve designed the app so you have to make the most of the moment you match to say hi IRL – that way you can see if you vibe in person and kick the talking stage to the curb.

But don’t worry, you have 24 hours to keep chatting with your match after you leave the same venue!

What types of relationships can I find on Melt?

Melt caters to various social needs. You can use it to find new friends, explore potential romantic connections, or expand your professional network for business opportunities.

How do I know if I've been matched?

You’ll receive a notification when you’re matched with another user at the same venue.

How can I start chatting with my matches?

Once matched, you can start chatting with your connections within the app’s chat feature. Keep in mind that chatting is only available while you’re both at the same venue, so make the most of the moment and say hi to your matches.

What can I do if I don’t match with a user I like?

Always wait and see if user has matched you back before approaching them, and be respectful that a match may not want to meet you right now.

What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during a chat or encounter?

If you ever feel uncomfortable while using Melt, trust your instincts. You can end a conversation at any time or choose not to meet someone if you’re unsure. Your safety and comfort are paramount.

How can I make sure my interactions on Melt are respectful and enjoyable?

Communicate with respect and kindness in all interactions on Melt. If you experience any negative behaviour or feel unsafe, report it immediately. Remember that you’re in control of who you engage with and what conversations you have.

Profile and Settings:

Can I edit my profile?

Yes, you can easily edit your profile information by tapping on the person icon in your app, then tapping the pencil icon. You can change your photos, meeting preferences, gender preferences, your bio and your gender.

Why can’t I change my name/birthday?

You set your name and birthday when you first create your account, to reduce fake profiles and dishonesty, you cannot change your name and birthday later.

Why do I have to agree to a User Code of Conduct?

Melt is a community of users who want to socialise and make new connections, and we believe in doing this safely and respectfully – every Melt user must agree to our House Rules and Code of Conduct before they can use the app, this ensures a safe space for everyone.

Users found to violate this Code of Conduct will be removed from the app.

How can I set my profile to active/inactive?

You can choose whether you want to be visible to other users or temporarily hide your profile, when active you’ll see the green dot next to the person icon, to hide/unhide your profile, tap the person icon and press the dot above the word ‘Active/Inactive’.

How do I switch between different types of meeting?

You can adjust your preferences in the app’s settings to specify the type of connections you’re seeking, whether you’re looking for dating, friendship or business networking. This way, Melt tailors your matches to your interests.

Can I trust that the information on someone's profile is accurate?

While we strive for authenticity, it’s important to remember that some users might not provide accurate information. Trust your instincts, and if something seems off, consider unmatching, blocking or reporting that user.

How can I protect my personal information while using Melt?

We advise against sharing personal information, such as your home address or financial details, with anyone you meet online. Let’s keep interactions positive, fun and/or flirty until you know you can trust them.

How can I delete my account?

Want to delete your Melt account permanently? Simply navigate to the Profile tab in the app, tap Help Centre, then tap Delete Account, then tap the Delete my Account button. Warning: this will permanently delete your account and all of your matches, it can’t be undone.

Staying Safe on Melt:

What safety features does Melt offer?

Melt prioritises your safety. We provide an in-app emergency call button and easy reporting for inappropriate behaviour. We also ensure you are only shown to other users who are at the same venue as you, and the Glimpse feature only displays an anonymous number of users per location.

How can I stay safe using Melt?

Melt is designed to help you meet new people in everyday situations, so remember if you wouldn’t do something normally, don’t do it on the app, ie. be aware of your surroundings, stay with your friends, don’t overindulge with alcohol, don’t trust strangers with personal information/belongings, definitely don’t leave your drink unattended.

Can I report someone for using fake photos, misrepresenting themselves or catfishing?

Yes, we absolutely encourage you to report any users that are catfishing, or misrepresenting themselves in the Melt app. We are a community of genuine people who want to socialise and expand our social circles – there is no place for fake people on the Melt platform.

How do I report inappropriate behaviour?

We encourage you to first report inappropriate behaviour to venue staff, they will be able to give you immediate assistance.

You can then easily report a user by navigating to their profile and tapping the ‘Red flag’ button. We take user safety seriously and will take appropriate action.

What if an emergency situation arises?

In the event of an emergency where you need police, fire or ambulances services, you can tap the HELP button in the top left of your screen. This is used for genuine emergencies only, misuse of the emergency call button is against our guidelines.

What do I do if I feel unsafe using the app?

If you feel unsafe on the app, hide your profile and head to a safe place with friends or where there are lots of other people around, alternately, consider heading home via safe public transport, taxi or a rideshare service.

Consider reporting incidents with other users that made you feel unsafe in our help centre in the app.

What should I do if my Match suggests excessive alcohol consumption?

While Melt promotes safe interactions, we cannot control users’ behaviour off the app. If your Match suggests excessive drinking or encourages behaviour that makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and prioritise your well-being.

If your Match becomes overly intoxicated, your safety remains the priority. If you’re concerned about their wellbeing or behaviour, it’s okay to disengage with them. Report their behaviour to venue staff if necessary.

Choose venues and activities that align with your comfort level.

Support & Updates:

The app is detecting the wrong venue, what can I do?

Melt aims to be accurate when detecting your location, however we might get it wrong sometimes, you can correct this by tapping the location name and selecting the correct location from the list.

What do I do if the app isn't working properly?

If you’re experiencing technical issues, please reach out to our support team via the contact form for assistance. If possible, take screenshots of the issue you are facing.
