Staying Safe with Melt:
At Melt, your safety is our top priority as you explore new connections and enjoy lively moments at various venues. Our platform is designed to foster genuine interactions and create positive experiences, and we’re committed to helping you make the most of your time while keeping safety in mind.
By following these guidelines and using your common sense, you can create meaningful connections while enjoying meeting new people on Melt. Remember, safety is a shared responsibility, and together, we can foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable and empowered to connect and discover new experiences.
Follow these guidelines to staying safe while using Melt to meet new people:
Trust Your Instincts:
Your intuition is a powerful tool. If something feels off or uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to disengage from the interaction. Your comfort and well-being come first.
Choose Your Moments:
Melt is all about connecting in person, but choose to engage when you feel ready. Whether you’re mingling at a social event or attending a business networking gathering, remember that you control your participation. Toggle your Active/Inactive when it feels right for you. While Melt enhances your experience, remember that not everyone might be open to immediate interactions. Always approach interactions with respect.
Meet in Busy Well-lit Places:
Melt is designed to work in all public places, however, use common sense to guide you choosing places to meet that are safe, open, busy, and well-lit. These settings offer a level of security and ease that ensures a positive experience. Be conscious of your safety when at venues that are no longer open, or where there are very few people around – remember safety in numbers.
Bring Friends Along:
Exploring Melt with friends can add to the excitement, fun and safety of the experience. Gather your pals and make the most of the moments while looking out for each other.
Respect Boundaries:
Every individual has different comfort zones. Always respect others’ personal space, boundaries, and preferences. If someone says ‘no’ to something, respect it, and do not push or convince them to do something they do not want to do. If someone does not respect that you have said ‘no’, consider disengaging from them, reporting them in the app or to venue staff if needed for your safety.
Stay in Public View:
When meeting on Melt, stay in public spaces and avoid private or secluded areas. This maintains a sense of security for both parties. Be wary of people you’ve just met asking you to leave the venue or go someplace private – wait until you get to know them and trust them before meeting privately.
Share Plans:
If you decide to head out alone to meet on Melt, inform a friend or family member about your whereabouts and plans. This simple step can give you peace of mind and create a network of support.
Travel Safely:
If you’re using Melt in unfamiliar areas or while travelling, remain vigilant and prioritise your safety, just as you would in any new location. Consider setting your profile to ‘Inactive’ until you are confident in your surroundings.
Keep Your Phone Handy:
Ensure your phone is fully charged and easily accessible. This way, you’re always prepared to communicate or call for assistance if needed.
Be Mindful of Alcohol:
If alcohol is involved, enjoy responsibly. Know, set and stick to your limits and always keep an eye on your drinks this includes when they are being made/brought to you. Stay with your friends, know your plan on how to get home and remain aware of your surroundings. Avoid people who pressure you to push your limits or do things you don’t want to do. Never drink and drive.
Trust and Verify:
While we strive for authenticity, it’s important to exercise caution when interacting with new people. Be mindful of the information you share until you’re confident in the connection. Refrain from sharing personal data, such as your home address, identity documents or finances, with unfamiliar contacts. If you’re a parent, limit sharing details about your children in your profile and initial conversations.
Report Inappropriate Behaviour:
If you encounter any suspicious or inappropriate behaviour on Melt, report it to us immediately. We’re here to maintain a safe and positive environment for everyone.
Venue Safety:
Respect venue rules and policies while using Melt. If you experience any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to venue staff.
